Hey guys,

I finally decided on a Razer Copperhead, and after only a couple of days, I’m impressed. This is an awesome bit of kit :D

So far I only have one question…

I set it up as per the instructions and downloaded/installed the latest drivers and in Windows (XP Pro) it works fine, no problems at all. However before Windows loads, especially on the login screen, my mouse cursor is all over the place! It’s almost unusable… I have to really move the mouse slowly just to target my login icon :(

As soon as Windows loads though (and I assume the Razer software) things are okay.

I’ve had a peek in Control Panel at the mouse cursor speed settings, and everything looks fine.

Any ideas?

Cheers,

SW.

well i got mine and havent had to install any new drivers - it worked form the box and its perfect - i suggest you uninstall the old drivers and then install the ones off the CD - that should work - if not then check the razer settings in your task bar shortcut again

Change the DPI to 800 instead of 2000 (press the button underneath the mouse). 1 flash = 400, 2=800, 3 = 1200 4=1600 5=2000.

LOOOL... Thats just the razer mate! takes a little getting used to, but once you get use to it every other mouse seems agonizingly slow! used the dimondback for ages, then bought the copperhead when it came out... the razer is now an integral part of my hand! try this to improve the cursor precision -
START>CONTROL PANEL>MOUSE>POINTER OPTIONS>ENHANCE POINTER PRECISION>APPLY ;)

hehehe my dad has the same problem when he uses my diamondback on my rig, he hates it and swears its worse then his dell wireless crap. when i use that i have to throw it across the mouse mat to get any kinda speed/precision i get with my razor, enjoy the razor!

I just got the Lachesis after using a logitech mx1000 for 2 years ( ish ). My god this mouse is amazing.... its so good its almost like i dont have a mouse in my hand... as if im using my mind to control the cursor :p

( so far ive not experienced what the Op described )

NO. do not do this, this enables mouse-accelleration, which is the easiest way of destroying any familiarity you might get with your mouses sensitivity.

in fact, its usually enabled by default. turn it off!

<edit> oh, to solve the OP's problem, at the start screen, Tab x2 = first user account.

I tried uninstalling and installing the provided CD driver, but that seems to have caused more problems… I can’t get the mouse to even work when it is attached to the same USB port I used for the 1st installation? I’m able to get it to work from other USB ports but the Razer software says it can’t detect any devices

I’m going to uninstall this driver I’m using now and remover any left over human interface devices associated with the mouse from Device Manager to see if that helps? I’ll then be doing a completely fresh installation!

Annoyingly though I still get the erratic cursor issue pre-Windows whether there is a driver installed or not? Even more annoyingly though, my old USB laptop mouse which cost about £3, doesn’t have this problem…

I’m tempted to try out the DPI button on the underside of the mouse – that’s about the only thing I haven’t tried yet :(
