Razer DA middle mouse button

Hi, I bought my Razer DeathAdder from OcUK around the New Year, and it's a really incredible mouse for gaming and everything.

But something bugs me, and that's the middle mouse button. Sometimes it's unresponsive and I have to push it down harder to register a click. After I've successfully clicked it a few times, it will then begin to register most of my middle mouse clicks without needing to exert any extra pressure.

I understand the middle scroll wheel has a nice soft gel feel to it, and it scrolls much more easily than other mice I've tried. It's not particularly important but nevertheless it still bugs me when I eventually do start needing the middle mouse button.

Is anyone else finding this?

PS. And please don't say press harder.

I've had a Razer Diamondback for about four years which also has the nice, smooth gel-like scroll wheel and I can't say I've noticed any inconsistencies is how hard I need to press the middle mouse button.

Not noticed this on my Deathadder. Been spot on 100% of the time for me so far. :)

Thanks for your replies guys. Maybe I'll give it a blast with my can of air later incase something clogged it up, or maybe because its relatively new it will eventually work perfectly fine after a while's use to unstiff itself.

Fingers crossed!

When i first got my MX518 i found i had to hit the middle button with more force. Don't notice it now, so it's either loosened up or i've gotten used to it...

I just dunno how much extra force I should be using to click the middle mouse button before it becomes unacceptable, as I don't want to always be using extra force and gradually damage the scroll wheel.

Sometimes I even press it harder than I normally do on other mice like 10 times in a row, and it never registers a click until I really and I mean REALLY press & hold it down. I bought this mouse cos it made an excellent gaming 5-button mouse, but at the moment it seems more like 4.5 buttons.

Do you think I could still get a replacement if I requested one? Because it's actually annoying me more now since I made this thread :( I could even make a short video to show how bad it is if needed!

After watching that Youtube video, I kinda LOL'd :D. Not sure if this will even do anything, but have you tried unplugging and plugging it back into the USB port? Or maybe even reinstall the mouse drivers? Maybe the pad underneath the scrolll wheel or whatever it is fell loose? Got blocked by something? Or its just borked overall. Has it been like this since you got your mouse?

I'm the same as you, I've had my Diamondback Chameleon for almost 4 years now and apart from all the dirt and grease it has accumalated through this time, it is still working as perfect as ever *touch wood*. Until it dies, maybe I'll go for another one in a different colour and at least it will be a "3G" one if it even makes any difference.

Right since I last restarted my PC, I've also given the mouse a good thorough clean with my air can. Seems to register my clicks so far, so I dunno if that was down to dirt, luck or coincidence.

I've requested and been granted an RMA, but I'll see how it goes for today. Fingers crossed it will not become an issue again, as I really wouldn't want to go through the hassle and be a week or two without a proper mouse!
