Razer Deathadder scroll wheel malfunctioning?

I have a 2013 Deathadder that's not even a year old and the scroll wheel has started to play up. Basically when I scroll down about 50% of the time (at least) it starts to scroll up (on the screen, not the physical wheel itself) and it's becoming really, really annoying. I'm hoping it might be a software bug rather than a physical fault but I wouldn't know how to find that out.

If anyone can offer any advice i'd really appreciate it.

Seems a pretty common issue from a quick google. Saw one guy reported it improved immensely when he plugged into a USB 3 port instead of 2.

warranty is 1 year. RMA it.

otherwise I'd say take it apart, clean and reassemble

I just went trawling through my OCUK invoices to find the one for the mouse before eventually remembering that I bought it in-store at a certain high street shop. That receipt is long gone so i think i might be screwed even though I registered it with Razer.

Razer mice are absolute rubbish build quality wise, I've had a diamondback and diamondback 3g and they both failed within 3 years, also scroll wheel.

Crud gets near the scroll wheel sensor,and on one oft hem the scroll wheel broke off on one side so was out of place

.

My el cheapo Trust wireless mouse did me 6 years before that.
