I've just got this mouse and find it quite comfortable. I could do without the silly lights and daft name but I quite like it. Is it worth loading up the software? I do play games like Counter Strike, Stalker, and FSX but I like to keep my system as simple as possible. I previously used a Logitech MX518 and I did load its software but never used it.

I'd be interested to hear from other users of the DeathAdder on the pros and cons of using its configuration software.

Thanks for your attention.

I know your post said experiance from other DA users but i use a G5. I have never loaded the software and the mouse works fine. I play Counter-Strike and some other FPS games without any problems. But when i did install the drivers i noticed no difference at all.

The only thing i have done is downloaded a program called CPL Mouse Fix, which edits something in your registry and makes the mouse move at the same speed as the desktop and in-game.

I have also just recently purchased the deathadder and I do like it, taking a bit of getting used to but pretty good.

I have installed the software and not really noticed any difference but it does give you the options of tweaking your mouse and one of them is to turn off the lights, so i have turned the scroll wheel light off as that was the most annoying for me.

I'd also like to know your views on it as I'm gonna be purchasing one this week.

Is this the best wired mouse for gaming? or is there a better one?

Loving my new Death Adder. Can't fault it one bit. The software is nice aswell, you can alter the DPI and lights and such.

Highly recommend it.

Yup - agreed!

Bought mine from the same forum member Deiwos got his from.

Very fast and accurate. Have owned a Saitek Gaming Mouse (1600dpi), Razer Copperhead (2000dpi), Saitek GM-3200 (yup 3200dpi  ), Razer Diamondback (1600dpi) and lastly a DeathAdder.

In order of perfomance (worst to best):

Saitek GM-3200 - Highly inaccurate, has problems tracking and is an ergonomic disaster... very poor in every sense.

Saitek Gaming Mouse - Ok design and performed reasonably but still lacked the finesse and control i was after.

Copperhead - Very expensive and (for a mouse :p ) quite a complex device. On the fly control of DPI, looked cool but was initially quite inaccurate. However a firmware update solved most of the problems and i ended up with a great mouse.

Diamondback - Budget brother of the Copperhead. Far simpler to use and no DPI change options. Made for a far better mouse which tracked impeccably and can be recommended to anyone on a budget!

DeathAdder - Quite simply 'The Bomb'. Great mouse. Faultless tracking and good simple well laid out controls! Razer really thought about the design of this baby and in terms of form and function i don't believe there's anything out there now that can better it!

If it's working well for you now then leave it but the control suite is quite good!

is the deathadder the higher model of the razer mice?

Yup.

It's the top one.

Is quite expensive but actually cost me less than my Copperhead!

Worth it imo if you can afford it and want the nicest.

Ordered my Deathadder :)

All thats left now is:

Samsung 226BW
Razer Tarantula

A desk to put it all on :p

i love mine, install the software and if you map a button such as side to on the fly sensitivity, press and hold it and use the mousewheel to change it, you can go from 0 - 10 i think in 0.5 increments.

in bf2 im a sniper so i runaround with it on 6 and when im going for that 500m headshot it goes to 0.5 for the perfect slow shot :D
