My sons WIRED headset is causing serious grief with the Xbox Series X controller.

Initially Xbox settings had to be fiddled with to get it working, today nothing at all, no sound from either side or mic feedback. Settings checked and changed, headphone plugged in and out, plug rotated, controller batteries changed, nothing. Testing the headset on the following devices gave different results....

Samsung Galaxy S9+
Only left speaker working, no idea if the mic worked. Wiggling the plug around and in/out had no effect. Mobile works perfectly with all other headphones.

Samsung Tab S6 (using headphone adaptor)
Both speakers working !!. No idea if mic worked.

His PC via an adaptor into his Soundblaster XF-i front panel. Working perfectly !.

So I gave him my new Soundmagic E11 earphones to test and both speakers and mic are working perfectly !?@?

Any similar troubles out there with the Xbox Series X controller headphone socket ?

Sounds like the headset it's self is the problem, i have a kraken headset which just plugs into jack and works no tweaking needed that's on series s and ps5.

Razer products do like to fail in odd ways so chances are it's just typical random razer failure

Yes it seems that's the case as he's tried another headset and it works perfectly !?. It must be the plug as the faulty headset goes on and off in a pc if the plug is rotated while plugged in. Really weird as it looks perfect and we've tried cleaning it with contact oil, maybe the rings are not exactly where they should be or the plating is very poor quality.

It's razer, there quality is likely the cause.

I only bought mine as they were less than half price, my main headset are a pair of steel series
