Looking at this mouse as i dont like the g700 that I have (wish I did)

Love the buttons but im used to the microsoft razer habu (still using this with the g700 just sitting next to it) my problem is its plasticy not matt and my hands get clamy on it, which makes it a deal breaker, happens almost instantly, damn my biology!

I started a thread before but now I'm really looking at this mouse as i can't think of anything else suitable.

Opinions wanted on every aspect, particularly button placement and how it feels/texture

Having to sell the g700 to fund this is very annoying as i know every other aspect of the g700 will end up being betyer

my first mouse was the razor diamondback, that broke within 6months,then bought the mamba and that broke within 4months,then got the g700 which i love and is so much more acurate than the mamba, razor mice look good but the quality is a lot to be desired, stick with logitech my friend

Just wrote out a long review but then lost it as I was stroking the back button in order to describe the texture. :p

Bottom line - love the mouse (wired&wireless, shape, comfort), but have been less impressed with Razer; got a Lycosa that has been plagued with issues.

I know it's different, but I have a naga, and I love it! it feels sooo good in games, the 'grid' on the side helps in games like battlefield when I want to quickly switch between my primary weapon, rocket launcher/med kit/defibrilator, and grenades :) the only thing that I wish was different about it is the fact the lights are only blue, and that it's not wireless, which the naga epic is :D although it doesn't have a glowing razer logo :p almost definitely going to be my next mouse (the epic)

- wireless doesn't last a full day
- so you'll certainly wire it
- mouse wheel can squeek (perhaps that's fixed for revision 2)
- side rubber pads move around as the glue melts

advice: get a deathadder instead

This is very annoying. I think I would struggle with the Deathadder as it only has 5 buttons, and the mamba seems a waste of the battery is as bad as that.

Maybe I should just buy another habu from the bay as its discontinued. Really doesn't seem a mouse out there for me. :/ I want 7+ buttons with a matt finish and right handed

If it didn't have so many buttons I might consider it

The buttons don't actually get in the way and there are some sticky pads on it to help you get used to the grid

This has not been my experience with the first revision Mamba I've had since June 2009. The squeaking wheel was an issue for a few weeks, but it stopped of it's own accord and hasn't returned. All three of the pads on the bottom of my mouse are exactly as they were when it was brand new. As for the battery life, I guess it would depend on what you consider to be a "full day". It wont last 24 hours of constant use, but in my experience it's not run out while I've been gaming for 10 consecutive hours. I have recently had to replace the battery, but you'd expect that after 2 years. My honest appraisal of the Mamba is that it's the best mouse I've ever used, and I would gladly buy another should the one I have break.

For the price I'd say its not worth it mate, heres why:

A)- Wireless is iffy - you don't get the same response as when its plugged in (and this is noticeable when gaming)
B)- Its a heavy mouse - teflon feet quickly wear out.
C)- Killer for a left hander like me :(

Some points to note:
There are two revisions - newer one came out recently so be careful if your paying the full price for one and check its the newer one. There was obviously some sort of problem with the older one as they've had to bring out a revision.

I don't use the Razer mouse driver - man it takes bloomin ages to start up!

The battery won't last more than 10 hours of solid use if you're playing an FPS or something equally intensive, granted. In normal use (i.e. web browsing etc.) it lasts well over 24 hours, so if you game for say 10 hours a day, you won't have any problems with the battery running out. Not that I mean to sidestep the issue, but I'd suggest that the battery life of your mouse shouldn't be your primary concern if you're spending 16+ consecutive hours gaming.

I don't seem to sweat at all while gaming, so I guess that's why the pads on my mouse are exactly as they were when I purchased it. If this is your primary concern then I'm afraid my opinion isn't going to be especially helpful!

As for zoomee's comments, I've not noticed any difference between the Mamba in wireless or wired mode in terms of responsiveness. It's no less responsive than my previous mouse, the Razer Copperhead. I can't really comment about the weight as that's a very personal thing, all I can say is that I find it perfectly acceptable, and as I mentioned previously the feet are still completely intact. I concede that it'd be terrible for a left handed person, and that the drivers are utter garbage. I got around the latter issue by installing them once just to update the firmware and configure my profiles, and then uninstalled it. I haven't missed it in the two years I've been using the mouse.

wireless is ok for web browsing and normal use but for fps i notice its not as smooth as being wired. that could also be due to interferance though as my desk houses allot of electrical equipment - i.e. wifi router etc.... (corner desk)

Agree about the battery - never had it be an issue tbh

i dont game for much more than an hour or at most 3 a day. Good to see some positive reviews coming through.

im also used to a heavy mouse, the habu i use now is fairly large, the g700 seems to light because im used to a heavy mouse.

Pic of my current failing mouse, it double clicks on one of the side buttons, really annoying.

its so similar to the mamba in looks, thats why i thought it might be a good choice.

ive been preserving with the g700 a little today, love the button layout and the wheel but i just dont know what it is about the material its made from, it almost feels above room temperature, the mouse is actually about the same size as the one i have now except it more humped! Its almost like my hand falls off the back of it. Why cant the razer mouse be as good as the g700! stupid hands!
