Just bought the Razer Mamba, I have to start by saying its a joy to game with. Its superb ( for a righty ), the shape suits my gaming style perfectly and the thumb buttons are a pleasure to use during games.

But..

Im using wondows 7 64 bit and I have to say that the drivers are nasty. They take like a minute to apply settings, it's discouraging to tinker, and thats what a mouse of this calibar is all about, tinkering!!!adjusting to make your own!!

I have set the mouse up pretty much how I want, but does anyone else have the same issues with the drivers.

...has anyone updated to the newer 1.8 firmware, is it worth doing as Im using 1.7...

Would love to try this mouse but im left handed anyway, be interesting to use a decent wireless gaming mouse for once!

mango , mango , mango mango mango , i dont know why mamba made me think of this

well, i'm receiving my second rma from Razer coz of so many problems with the mouse. I would recommend updating the firmware to 1.8, it fixes a few major issues.

btw if you're interested, I RMA'd because there was a space between the left mouse button and the clicker. When I click on it it feels really tacky as though I had to force it to align with the clicker before it clicked. Same first my first replacement but this time it was on the right button, the mouse wheel was bloody rattling when I move the mouse and the left thumb grip was clicking everytime I hold it! yeh... So it took me ages to get replies from them. I sent in videos demonstrating the problems, they ignored it for 3 days untill I emailed again telling that they have crappy RMA services. 2 days later I got a reply telling me that they didn't recieve the video. OK fair enough, I'll upload it to youtube, no excuses now. Few days later, no reply. Emailed again saying WTH is going on, stop ignoring my msgs!!! Next day, received an email telling me that they are sending a replacement and there is no need to send the original back. Happy to receive a free mouse, but sure put up a fight for it.

I did notice this too. Fortunately, the only time I found myself needing the driver was when the mouse first arrived and I wanted to update the firmware. Once that was done, I configured the profiles to suit my playing style, saved them to the mouse, and then uninstalled the Razer software completely. The scroll wheel has developed an occational but annoying squeek, but other than that the mouse has been supreme.

I heard about the squeek too but never had the mouse long enough to find out. How long untill it started squeeking?

I first noticed it about 4 months after I got it. It doesn't always squeek, so I have put up with it. Apparently it is quite easy to resolve by simply cleaning the wheel.

I too have this mouse and being ambidextrous can say that it actually ok in my left hand too although i have to be careful not too press the back/forward buttons on the side accidently!
