Not sure if this has been posted already but came across this from Razer, liking the sound of the new Orange switch.

Razer will be allowing other manufacturers to use them also.

You would have thought they would lower the price. What will be interesting is if the quality is there, Kailh will have to deliver better than Cherry to convince most.

Definitely worth keeping an eye on this.
I like the idea of the mechanical feel but with silence

This is razer we are talking about they will never offer you the saving.

I did write something more scathing initially, but thought I would give Razer a little break, but you're right, they deserve the abuse they get.

Kailh have been selling switches at such a low cost, you have to imagine that Razer are making an extra 20% profit on what are unproven switches. Zalman have a keyboard available for £40 using Kailh switches, but Razer probably don't want to damage the brand by selling cheaper mechanical keyboards, but people will buy them regardless, annoying.

I heard somewhere that it was 5 cents per switch used in license from cherry

if true the saving is at least $5 per keyboard. Sadly I can't discuss razer pricing politics on the forums whilst I'm in this job So I can't talk price points and margins except to say we don't make the prices Razer do same as with logitech. I probably shouldn't be so openly critical of them but the fact remains they are one of the best selling ranges no matter my personal opinion of their products. Which I hasten to add the Death adder 3.5G respawn was one of the best mice i've ever used. So I'm not always so scathing :)

Just more recent releases have left me with a bitter taste in my mouth from a company with their presence and strength I expect more like the DA and less like the tiamat. But then I expected the same from logitech....
