Hi guys,

So thanks to my Microsoft Sidewinder X8 mouse breaking after 3 months (thanks Microsoft), I'm looking at getting a new gaming mouse. I'm planning to return to MMO gaming later on this year, so would like something for then.

I'm considering the Razer Naga but have a few questions:

Is it possible to map the 12 keys on the mouse to anything other than the number row or numpad on the keyboard? I.e. could I map a mouse key to "Q", "F10", or "Alt+5"?

Does it tend to be reliable? I'm looking for something to last me well over a year or two, and I'm not really wanting to dismantle anything to do so.

Finally, is it worth getting the Naga Epic instead? I'd rather not spend that much but if it's really worth it I might be tempted.

Thanks, let me know if you'd recommend it :)

I have the epic version, but I understand the mileage doesn't vary much between the two.

You can assign any keys to any function, the software is right up there with Logitech ease of use imo.

I've used mine very solidly since it was released, so it's seen 6 months solid daily use so far, no problems, faults or fails to report and this is coming from a Logitech fanboy, so i'd be complaining at the first hint of a problem.

Is the epic worth it? Well, let me just say I've used mine in it's wired mode with the battery removed since the first month of ownership. The battery would be good for about 10 hours solid use a day, but with the systems being off overnight the battery wouldn't get enough time to recharge before being used again.

Also it felt less responsive without being connected by the wire.

Lastly, where we live there are 11-20 wireless networks present at any given time, all that traffic has to affect any and all wireless devices.

For fps use I don't like it, and always revert back to my g500 or mx518, for MMO use it is excellent once you've given it about a week of solid use.

Finally, would I recommend it? Yes and no, if you like Razer products I think you'll love this, if you're used to the feel and use of logitech i'd probably stay away, this isn't a good mouse to convince you to swap from logitech.

Hope that helps :)

Thanks a lot Fars :)

Trouble is that I know the Epic has always supported key mapping, but the standard Naga didn't originally and only released drivers to "enable key mapping" last year; unfortunately nobody knows what that means and there are varied reports on the internet.

Would love to hear from any standard Naga owners too, just to make sure!

Thanks again :)

You're welcome :)

Concerning the original version and key mapping, I know they use identical driver software now, and have done so since the Epic launch. So personally i'd safely assume it's the same with both.

Hopefully someone will be along to say for certain though.

I have the standard naga and am actually using one that I got as a replacement for a broken one. Although I have never installed any drivers for it I assume windows 7 has becuase it lists it was a naga. To be honest I didnt give myself enough time to get to grips with it with wow. I play a lock so i was hoping it would help with the massive amount of spells but its more user error that a problem with the mouse. I would recommend if you do get one to only use the mouse to play for a few days and dont use any keybinds to cast spells that way you will get used to the buttons and pressing them for each action. I can get and install the software and check it out if you want but the software of the past I wasnt impressed with that this is coming from a razor fanboy ( i have a lycosa and a carcharias)

In my opinion, it's too many buttons to accurately use for an mmo, but I guess that that is down to the player, obviously I don't cut the mustard, I use a deathadder and I think that it's an amazing mouse, even compared to my old logitech g9
