Hi guys,

First post here, I'm hoping somebody might be able to offer some advice.

Yesterday I found that my three year old Razer Raptor 27'' monitor had suddenly died (the computer was recognising it, but it had no picture, just a black screen). I spent the remainder of the day googling options, phoning up repair shops, etc, but it seems it is a lost cause.

So, today I've been looking for a replacement and I'm just not 100% sure what might be best for me.

I'm happy to spend roughly the same amount of money as the Razer (so around £700+) if necessary. I'm looking for another 27'' monitor, and my primary concern is simply beautiful image quality. Obviously, a higher refresh rate is lovely, but I'm primarily looking for just a stunning picture.

From what I've been reading, the Alienware AW2725DF seems like the way to go, but frankly I'm just not sure. If anybody could gives me their quick take on if they think an AW2725DF is a good idea or not, or offer any other monitor recommendations, I'd hugely appreciate it.

Thanks very much for reading and I'll happily answer any questions!

I would go QD-OLED. MSI make good monitors, and selecting from the OCUK range, there's:

MSI 27" MAG 271QPX QD-OLED E2 2560x1440 240Hz 0.03ms A-Sync HDR HDMI 2.1 Gaming Monitor £648.95

Seems like a good choice for you.

I am by no means a repair expert, but I'm wondering whether your issue could be blown capacitors. Some thoughts:

- Are Razer able to give you a contact for an approved repairer?
- It might be worth asking here if anyone knows of any good repairers. Gut feeling is your monitor would be fixable. I reckon there would be a company out there that could fix this. I think there are some big electronic repair companies that manufacturers contract out warranty repairs to, so they might be able to take it on.

Thank you ever so much for your response, I'll take a look at that!

And funnily enough, my cousin is a little into this sort of stuff, and he said exactly the same thing as you have - that his gut feeling is that it would be fixable.

However, I phoned up a handful of computer repair shops around my area, and they all said they don't take monitors, and they don't know anybody that does. So at that point I kind of just gave up. I think I'll definitely try and have a more serious look around now though.
