Razer Switchblade

Q: When and where can I buy the Razer™ Switchblade?
A: The Razer™ Switchblade is a concept design (think of it like a concept car) and will not be made available for purchase - yet.

It does look good though, but how much gaming can you get out an Atom

Well considering its sole purpose is for gaming, im sure this would already have been considered and the right components being used to enable it to do so...

I dont like the idea of a changing keyboard. I like my keys been in the same place. Its hard enough to adapt to a new keyboard never mind a new keyboard with changing keys.

I don't see the need to have PC games on a 7" screen and even so I don't think that a changing keyboard is the key to it.

If this concept sees the idea moving to an actual keyboard with the same functionality that can just be hooked up to a regular PC then that would be more interesting.

MY GOD could that promotional be more pretentious??? It was just ridiculous. It's on YouTube.

But the device is intersting. They don't explain how mouse movement works though. I wouldn't put my hopes in a 1 ghz CPU though.

Also I'd much rather be at a desk with a full keyboard, I suspect that's mainly
due to the mouse and keyboard being on a desk.

The only portable gaming I would like would be controller based.

The immense seriousness and pretension of the first speaker was too much for me. Having said that, can you really get that much gaming out of Atom?

It's a nice idea, but I'm not sure it would be a better option that a laptop. I tend to get annoyed at the compressed keyboards of laptops and particularly netbooks without taking it another step further... I just don't think it will be a very elegant solution in practice, but will see how it turns out.

something to rival the 311c mini? :D if the mini had that colour scheme and the keyboard it would be a dream.

but yea the screen is too small for a start they should use 12" minimum like the 311c netbook.its a really interesting concept as if they put in proper cooling on the atom and let us slighty overclock like the 311c netbook(1.6-2.4ghz) then it could be a proper little system.they need nvidia's ION though no doubts about it without ION this whole thing fails as intel onboard is dreadful.oh yea atom can use ddr3 as well so u can put in 3GB of ram easy.

price £400 minimum u can bet with that keyboard and screen it will cost at least this just for the razer premium.if its going to be the latest atom and ION 2 and a full 3-4GB of ram installed then it might push £499 uk price.

and no it wont play crysis lol.if they use ION 2 and the latest atom then it will perform decent.i would imagine you would see 60fps in world of warcraft on semi low settings.the mini 311 can get 40fps with textures on high and rest on low.ion 2 will also handle 1080p videos as well so if they left space for a decent sized HDD you could use this as a portable gaming download box :)

They tell you it's touch screen, which pretty much makes FPS's out of the question.
