i have just purchased a 3500dpi razer deathadder from the bay of e, (like 2 freaking days ago..) which was working perfectly fine until i installed the 'DeathAdder3500_fwupdater_v2.45_Eng' update from their site.

the mouse was using the latest patch which i downloaded the night before i installed the mouse. well while installing this new firmware it told me not to unplug the mouse, i clicked 'OK' and let it install. the mouse disconnected itself, installed some sort of driver ive never heard off, IIego*** (something) which installed itself.

then it told me the update failed, and to "unplug and plug back in the mouse and try again" - the problem is i plug my mouse back in and its dead.

obviously i am not happy about this, using their official firmware as it was intended to be used broke my mouse.

i also hear razer support is a joke, and since i didnt buy it from an 'authorised reseller' (of which there are hardly any.)

what can i do about this guys? any ideas? what a god damn shame!!

Ouch, contact Razer and see what they say, even if there support is as bad as you say it is, they might be able to help you out.

Or, contact the seller and ask them when they bought the mouse and if they have any proof of purchase, it might still be in warranty.

thats a good idea, ill do that now.

but the odds of even getting the receipt is 1 thing, and 2nd the other thing is it has to be from 1 of the 'authorised resellers' its not going to end well, i am positive i will have to throw the damn thing away and never buy from razer again.

Did you buy it from a Business seller or from a private one?

private seller. no returns listed on the ebay listing but still it was working when i got it until this happened so its not their fault at all.

it's razers faulty drivers. i followed the instructions perfectly well and ive been dealing with pc's 15 years. this is the first time anything like this has happened.

their policy is terrible by the way, any other company would just say to send it in for RMA and thats that.

i have contacted razer about it also but i am surely not expecting them to help me out.

i read a post about a keyboard this guy bought which was sealed and new, was having problems with it disconnecting, he contacted their support and they told him theres nothing they can do. because he didnt buy it from 1 of the 3 locations listed on their website.

i am expecting the same response here.

Razor have 14 resellers listed according to their webite, so thats hardly 3.

Secondly, some companys do only give you warranty if you buy it from approved stores. Again I dont think this is a problem seeing as there are 14 to buy from in the UK

Thirdly, no product is ever 100% working with everything you do. I'm sure there are thousands that have had no issues with firmware updates. Equally there other other products out there that fail on firmware updates.

Forthly, the buyers contract is with the seller not the manufacturer. a lot of companys wont say just send it in for an RMA without a receipt.
