Hi All,

I have been looking around for an RCA switch that will allow 1 input to 2 outputs. I have found loads of devices that take multiple inputs to 1 output but that will not work for me.

To explain; I have two seperate systems, one being an older Technics full HiFi stack with floor standers, and my Cambridge Audio amp that go to my CA Aero 2s. The CA Amp is connected via a DacMagic to my PC.

What I want to do is have the output from the DacMagic go into a switch so I can send to either the Technics or CA Amp - meaning I can use either speakers and amp setup. I would connect the Technics CD player to the DAC via opitical cable.

The reason I want to do this is because I love the Technics sound for certain music and my CA for others. Sometimes I will want to use my PC and play FLAC and other times I want to just use the CD player with the PC off. Having the switch would allow the CD or PC to go to either AMP via the DAC and Switch.

Any ideas?

Unless I'm missing something, you can just use those multi-in, one-out switches, can't you? Just hook it up in reverse so that your audio out goes in to the "output" side, and then you can switch through the multiple sets of RCAs on the other side to select which "input" it comes out of. It might not look too pretty, but I'm sure unlabelled ones exist.

:edit: I suppose it depends on the exact internals whether it combines them or not.

I thought I read something that says this wouldnt work, but unsure why...

I'd double check on that, two sources into one is a bad idea, need to see how that switch works.

Its not two sources into one though.

The DAC controls the input as it does normally. Either USB or Opitical. One output from the DAC to the switch. Switch to either amp.

The OP isn't looking to use two sources into one. He is looking to use one source into one of two outputs at any one time. The switch i linked to will do that, it says that in the description.

Ok I think this will do the trick if we are right in that I can simply use the outputs and inputs in reverse.

I will have a little think before I order...but I have discovered something, switches are damn ugly!

EDIT: Looking at the questions asked on amazon, it seems that I can use this either way round, so 1 input, 2 outputs. :)

They are ugly as sin. Got a soldering iron? You could always get a box and make your own!

I used to use a exactly this type of device for pretty much the same function. In my case it was to switch audio out from my pc into either my pc speakers for gaming or my Marantz amp for music, As has been said, simply use it in the reverse so it's switch one input between two output devices.

The one I used was from maplin and was slightly better looking than those posted, just a simple box with a simple button on it but sadly it seems to be discontinued now: http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/2-way-phono-selector-switch-cn44x
