So my wife got one of the 'new' sega megadrives which only has RCA out on it, is there a viable way to connect this to HDMI? Annoyingly my AV Amp wont output composite signals to HDMI and I've no way to get a composite to the TV.

I'd imagine an AV to HDMI converter would do the trick.

pretty sure you can get one for around £15... which is probably the cost of the "console" :D

Wait...could you clarify what speakers will you be using? Speakers that are connected to your AV amp, or built-in speakers of the TV?

AV receiver, Don't think I've ever used the speakers on the telly!

Tv is wallmounted with cables chased into the wall, I only have HDMI's to the tv available to me hence the issue.

I've found a few converter kind of things and also what looks like just a hdmi cable with rca's on the other end. Kit varies wildly in prices too so I'm a little confused.

If you are using speakers with receiver for audio, surely you can just connect the RCA output of your console to you receiver, and set your receiver to have analog as input and you will have sound for your speakers?

From your console there should be a analog output with 3 connectors, with 1 video output and then left and right audio output...any chance you got a picture of the connection for your Megadrive?

P.S. Is it this one?
