I have a fused spur in the kitchen which feeds a socket conveniently behind the washing machine, now going to use this to run power down to the bottom of the garden, rather than putting an RCD in behind the washing machine which will be a right arse to reset if it does trip looking at moving the RCD portion to the fused spur switch.

Is it a case of picking one up from screwfix/b&q etc also want to get one that is as flush as possible, its about 1.2m from the sink if that makes any difference

Cheers

Kimbie

So you are taking a cable from a spur and using this to supply a garden shed, what's it got in it? Can't you just add a new circuit into your C.U and mark it as "Shed", with an appropriate sized breaker, new cable, then have some sort of isolation (DP switch) when it enters the shed, and go from there?

Its for power down by the deck, so when have BBQs etc can plug laptop in etc that sort of thing, already have external cable, waterproof boxes etc.

The spur feeds the socket behind the washing machine, and basically the plan is to make up the cable with a plug and plug it into that socket, but as it is outside want to use an RCD, but as per my OP as this will behind the washing machine and we need to pull the washing machine out to access this plug will cause annoyance if it does trip hence the RCS on the fused spur

Ah right, something like this might do? then change the single socket into a double, and you can have both the washing machine and outside socket plugged in at the same time, it's safe enough if you have the outside socket RCD protected to leave it switched on. I doubt it will trip, or cause annoyance having to keep resetting, it'll stay on no problem

RCD Adaptor

*or as you say change the switch fuse to a rcd type

Where is the washing machine plugged in, if not in the socket specifically installed for that purpose?

The washing machine is plugged into a socket in one of the kitchen cupboards, as each cupboard has a plug socket for an appliance

You can just swap the fuse spur to RCD spur but you might not be able to get it flush, as you might not have the extra space for the back of the spur in your existing backbox.

Also if the existing spur is set into the tiles you might need to dig the grout out abit

Screwfix have 2 from a quick seach

1-SafetySure
2-Powerbreaker

Fist one will give a more flush finish but take more space behind, 2nd is almost flat at the back but sticks out more, just need to check how much space you have in the backbox etc

Imo the powerbreaker is better quality and the buttons are recessed so wont get knocked like one other one.

If you don't want to disturb the kitchen and make 1 spur look different then you could just drill through the wall behind the socket and put either or both an ip socket or ip single accessory box with RCD spur on the outside wall and continue the wiring from there into the garden.
