RCS Chat features, does this thing ever work?

Me and my GF can never get this thing to work consistently and we have two different phones, mine being a Matye 20x, and hers a Samsung s20, we get it to work for a around a week and then it fails, then I spend half a day uninstalling carriers services, clearing cache and data from the messages app, reinstalling, uninstalling, removing the sim, installing the sim, drives me nuts, we are both on vodafone so starting to wonder if its a carrier issue?

Anyone else have this issues with RCS?
 
I haven't had any issues with it on my Pixel 6 Pro and previous OP7TPro, with EE/BT Mobile. However, since they don't have their own RCS network it uses Google's Jibe network.

I believe Vodafone uses their own RCS network, and it looks like they're actually in the middle of shutting it down which is why you may be having problems: https://support.vodafone.co.uk/Phon.../Rich-Communication-Services-RCS-Shutdown.htm

I'm guessing after the 31st this month if you try to register RCS again it'll use Google's Jibe network which should hopefully work afterwards.

Not too many problems apart from users being "offline" ? Then it doesn't auto switch to SMS, I have to do it manually.
You have to make sure to go into the settings -> chat features and enable "Automatically resend as a text (SMS/MMS)". For some weird reason Google decided to have this off as default.
