Surprising to see, I'm guessing Apple don't want to be forced to open up iMessage so adopting RCS should alleviate this.

Agreed but it won't matter because everyone I know uses WhatsApp.

Yippee. I refuse to use anything other than Apple messages so I just miss out on photo sharing and suchlike with the family. Hopefully this will rectify all that.
