Hey,

I just got some RD RAM 2x 256RD RAM to go with my 2x 128RD RAM.

PC800 - 40ns

Slot #1 256RD PC800 - 40ns (ECC)
Slot #2 256RD PC800 - 40ns (ECC)
Slot #3 128RD PC800 - 40ns (NON-ECC)
Slot #4 128RD PC800 - 40ns (NON-ECC)

My computer keeps crashing at random moments, It there any where to test the RAM? and can I stop it crashing? I get errors like .exe could not be opened. And just before when i was typing this I got an error saying some thing about .dll and the browser closed and I had to re type it.

Thanks,

Hiya,
You want the memtest x86 ISO available from here:
http://www.memtest.org/#downiso
Let it run, preferably overnight and see what happens. A BIOS update might also be available to increase RAM compatibility.
You could also try manually setting up the memory in the BIOS, as this has been known to resolve some issues.

Finally, try with only the new RAM in- It might be complaining about having different types present.

Which one do I download? :) Thanks,

I read some where that you can use ECC and Non ECC at the same time.

Anways thanks for your help. I am sending the person back his RAM getting a Refund :)

You want the precompiled bootable ISO in zip format.
However, everything I can find on Google tells me that it is not an at all good idea to use ECC & non-ECC ram together.
