A mate of mine has a new machine and he's not sure it's running up to scratch - SLI config etc.

Now I know I might be able to help when I get on the box - but how do I do that - can anyone give me a simple steps to get onto his desktop? I guess I use RDP - but does he has to invite etc?

I have Vista Premium and he has XP Home.

You wll not be able to use Microsoft RDP to your friends machine as he has XP Home. XP Home can only connect to an another computer using RDP it cannot host an RDP session.

Get your friend to install RealVNC, he runs the server app on his machine and you install the viewer. This works better in this case as your friend can see what your doing.

Just remember to configure routers/firewalls etc to grant you access.
