Hi,

I would like to replace a HDD in a PC with another HDD and need some advice on how to re-create the recovery partion on the replacement HDD.

On the old HDD there was a system recovery partition E:\ that contained the system recovery files, this was allocated 6gb of space with the remainder of the HDD allocated to C:\ which was the boot drive.

Can anyone please advise me how to re-create this setup on the replacement HDD? For example do I create two primary partitions for C:\ and E:\ and have them both active? Or do I create one primary partition for C:\ using the entire drive and then create a logical drive from this for the system recovery? Or, is there some other process?

I have a partition manager boot CD that I can use to setup the HDD but I am not sure about the sequence and process to get it right.

Any help most appreciated

In the end I opted for a single partition on the the replacement drive and did a clean install of Windows from disc.

Thx for your help and input.
