All my mp3's are stored in folders as artist/cd title. However, I want to re-encode them to a lower bitrate so I can fit them all on my ipod but I want to be able to do this en masse without going into each folder and selecting files. Is there anything out there that does this?

Please don't ask the question "Why do you want a lower bitrate?" :) I'm just after some software that will re-encode loads of files.

You'll want to use he-aac if your encoding to a lower bitrate. I use dbpoweramp, or nero.

Thanks, I've got dbpoweramp but never knew it had this facility!! Trying it out now.

WinLame.

Has the option to output to the same folder as input and delete the original if needed.

I think you can do it without having to select files if you put them all into a playlist - not sure though.
