Re-fresh Rate Vs Resolution

Hello guys I planning on moving away from my LED/LCD 1080p 46" 60hz TV and going with a Nice size Monitor.
Now I dont have a budge so you can realistically point-out what you might think is best for my needs.

Witch ever option I take am going to need another HD7950 yes/no?? But what would you think I should do?
Note I have never played a game above 1080p or 60FPS before so both will be a great upgrade :)
One more thing what is the Monitor of choice around here? Also I dont want to go below I think 32"

I use a 27" 1080p 120hz monitor and it feels amazing to play games on (single 7950).
I think personally anything over 24" is stretching 1080p too much.

Really 27" and abpver needs a much higher resolution at which point you're gonna drop a bomb on the display plus extra 7950 to get a decent FPS.

See I don't notice the Image stretch 1080p over 46" I understand image will be much clear on a smaller display. But I don't want to go to small, I have played games on big TV's for while now so I don't want to down grade to much on the size lol
Is they 1200p/120hz display out there? or is 120hz only on 1080p??
