Think about making the jump and buying a graphics tablet.

The Intuos S4 has 2048 levels of pressure sensitivity against the 512 levels of the Bamboo fun. You also get the chance to change nibs on the Intuos.

Whilst those features are desirable they are not essential to me. What I would like to know is how much of a disadvantage A6 has against an A5 board.

I have drawn out the relevant active sizes on notepaper at work, but obviously that isn't the same as actual real life experience.

I cannot afford the A5 Intuos (Can only afford the A6). If the difference in size is more important than x4 pressure, etc, then I will get the bamboo medium (A5).

If an A6 pad isn't too bad then I will go for the Intuos.

Does anyone have any experience and can help me?

I have an A5 intuous, and it's just big enough for me. I've tried an A6 before, and it's too small. :)

Thanks, I was thinking that myself. The extra features of the Intuos were desirable but not at the cost of being impracticle. The A5 is out of my budget so I will be getting the Bamboo Fun instead. (I probably don't need the additional features yet, just getting used to a tablet will take long enough!!)

If its your first tablet then just get what is in your budget. Getting a bigger one with more levels of sensitivity at this point wouldn't affect what you are going to be able to produce so just stick within budget :)

I use an A5 wide and love it!

same from me = near enough identical to what I would have said :)

Just add - get a widescreen aspect tablet if you have a widescreen display :)

Stupid question but can you have a remote touchpad using a tablet?

I have a bluetooth mac keyboard for the MBP but obviously I still need a mouse and for that I often find a tablet that could do multitouch would be really good..

you could use onscreen keyboard with it?

edit:

With the pen of course if Jester is referring to this post as a "no you couldn't"

No, you couldn't. The pad will only "react" with the pen (or mouse they sometimes supply with it.) Unless you pay for a touchscreen tablet PC that supports multi-touch.
