Re-install games after upgrades?

Over a period I've gradually done the following....

I've upgraded my memory from 2 gig to 4 gig (giving 3 gig under xp 32 bit)

I've upgraded my graphics card from 7950 gt to gtx 260

I've upgraded my processor from an athlon x2 4200 to an athlon x2 6000

I also play games installed before these upgrades. Now I assume games will initially configure themselves at the time of installation depending on your hardware....

so......do games re-configure when you upgrade a component? update themselves? Or still run assuming everythings unchanged since installation therefore not getting benefits of upgrade? Would I be better off re-installing games after any of the upgrades above??

Just a niggling thought...

TIA Andy..

ps...I'm not talking about auto-configuring in-game settings...more the likes of a game utilising fully what memory etc you have. (or what it thought you had at time of game installation)

Games tend to depend on the drivers windows is using and how windows is configured, they may prompt you prior to running to check graphics settings but I doubt you'd have to reinstall any of them I know I never have even when switching between an ATI and Nvidia graphics card.

P.S. nice forum name, why didn't I take that one years ago! :)

Cheers.....No I've never needed to re-install games either..(& have upped the settings where appropriate).....was just a passing thought...I wondered if a game would still think I've got x amount of ram & accounted for that in it's config & used virtual ram where appropriate....not knowing my ram had increased so less (or no) virtual ram swapping was needed..you get the idea...(I hope..never did have a great way of explaining things)....Tnx again....

Andy...(I think we all worry too much were pc's are concerned)

Yep from the good old dragonlance series....Tasslehoff was was my fav character..(you can always use burrfoot! :) )
