How do I go about putting Lion back to the beginning again?

Everything valuable is backed up, but I want to do a clean install as I've messed a couple of things up and the system has gotten a bit slow and clunky.

Is it Shift+R on boot up or is there an easier way?

I don't have OSX/Lion or anything on physical media if that matters.

Sorry for the stupid questions.....never done this before.

Thanks

I maybe jumping the gun and not actually need to do this.

It just seems that over the past 3 or 4 days, it has got very sluggish, finder has crashed several times locking the machine up.

I have a 2tb USB drive connected, a Sony USB BD Writer, it is connected to a Gigabit network via a HP Procurve Switch with a 4TB NAS connected.

I use the machine purely for itunes/puremusic (all music on the NAS) and Plex (all BD/DVD content on the USB Drive/NAS until I get around to building a WHS).

HDMI handshake has been a bit twitchy too...

If I go into actvity monitor and look at the list of active processes, it is constantly chopping and changing and I don't know what is essential and what I can do without......

Re-installing Lion may help or I simply may have too much going on in the background.

Just the same with the 3 items disconnected.

Lots of hanging.....things taking ages to open, when Lion first boots it takes a good minute or so for it to be usuable. Up until 7-10 days ago it was instant......

Most of the initial issues seemed to be related to moving files between the MM HDD and either the 2TB USB Drive or the NAS (or Vice Versa).

I disconnected the BD/USB HDD and just had the NAS connected and the MM locked up 2/3 of the way through moving a 30GB movie, holding the on/off button was the only was out.....

Upon removing the ethernet cable it still hangs etc....oh and booting/shutting down is taking longer.

I am going to go through the slow process of recovery/reinstall and add bits back a day at a time and see where we go, it's only time

Lion is installing as I type this (on another machine), it should be done by 1:00 am so I'll get things up and running tomorrow and download Smart and go from there.

Thanks
