Having run all the programs that i can think of, CCleaner/spybot/adaware/antivirus/defragged etc, my 2 yr old pc is still running slowly( i haven't installed any new software for a while). Someone suggested i purchase Norton 360, but I've avoided Norton for a few years. Would i be better off simply reinstalling xp? if so, is it better to simply reinstall or completely wipe the hd first, then install? Or is Norton360 any good? Thanks

it's much faster to just use this and remove the pre-defined useless apps

msconfig is rubbish

hijackthis is 10x better, and autoruns is 10x better than that too!

Norton 360 is awful. Avoid at all costs.

A clean install of XP will definitely speed things up. It's obviously a hassle, because you'll have to install drivers and programs again, but it's probably worth it if you're not planning on shifting to Vista anytime soon.
