Hi,

I currently have a H-50 cooling my i7 930. Now the thing is I'm considering getting a new case and swapping my kit over. (currently have a fractal r2 but fancy the corsair 600)

I take that I'll have to remove the cooler completely from the CPU when I do this?. Additionally if I have to then clean the pre-applied thermal paste off and apply some new stuff, if so what is the best paste for a H50?

Thanks

If you still got the will to live after reading through the thread linked above .... you'll see that thermal paste is ... well not much difference between any of them really unless you are really anal about shaving 2 or 3 degrees of your temps. So go with what you want really MX-3, MX-4, Thermalchill III, AS5 whatever :) 1 tube will last you ages!!

It's not a bad idea to take the case move as a chance to dismantle the H50 and clean the old thermal paste off and re apply some new stuff. It does break down after a while and should be re applied periodically anyway. On the practical side it's easier to seat and secure the MB without juggling the rad/fan as well and possibly damaging your MB :)

Cheers for the info guys. I'll get some paste ordered and some of that akasa cleaning solution.

How often would you say you need to reapply the thermal paste on your cpu and even gpu?

Thanks
