Hi
I'm doing a new build this weekend and use Norton Ghost9 to create a backup image on a seperate ide HDD from which I can restore . Does anyone know if this also restores registry settings associated with the applications restored.

What Im really asking of course is do I have to manually restore from CD all my applications!

cheers

Laurence

The image should take a snap shot of the entire drive / partition that you select. If this is the system partition then the registry and everything else will be backed up. Therefore, assuming all your applications where installed when the image was taken, restoring the image will also restore the registry and all your applications...

I can see that if I restored the entire drive then all settings would be restored, but in this case as its a clean install I will only be restoring selected folders.

Oh I see, in that case no the registry settings will not be restored.

I suppose you could restore the selected folders and then chose to restore the registry too, although this would work it kinda defeats the object of a nice fresh XP install.

Time to get out those CD's and Serial numbers then...
