re-installing vista with the same product key

i am wondering if it is possible to re-install my copy of vista by using the product key i have already activated with.

any help would be appreciated !

:)

Yes, as long as you have not had any significant hardware changes. If you have the retail version then this does not apply. If you have OEM then you need to be careful.

nope. Well, thing is its odd. I have re-installed Vista on my laptop around 4-6 times over the last year for various reasons. Only the last time I did this did it say I had to ring.

So, I rang the number, entered the details I had to. It told me my copy was valid and text me the number I had to enter to finalise activation.

Took about a minute tops. All the times before this its just activated with no issues. One way around this is to use Acronis True Image and image your PC after activation but as I say its not really an issue.

It may fail the activation over the internet, but you can use the automated telephone system to activate your software.

You can re-install windows using the same key belongs you keep the same motherboard, New motherboard new license is required.

Edit: This applies to OEM software, Retail can be passed onto a new machine belongs it is deleted from the original machine.
