Re-installing Windows 7 problem

I give my PC to my partner as I mainly use my mac now and the PC was being wasted on me.

As the PC had lots of unnecessary programs, I decided to do a fresh install on the PC which uses an Intel 80gb SSD.

When I rebooted with the Win7 DVD (official retail), setup started to load files, and then took me to a screen with a windows logo which beats like a heart and has a scrolling status bar beneath. This screen then loads to a blue/green page where nothing happens.

At this point I can hear the DVD stop spinning and nothing more happens. I am able to move the mouse pointer around the screen but nothing more. I also tried using both Win7 DVD discs and there was no issues. I then connected the SSD to my laptop to perform a format in case this was causing an issue. Format complete and the same issue arises when trying to install. Last thing I could think of was to do a bios reset but that has not changed anything.

Any ideas what this could be?

How long are you waiting? I've seen it hang on that screen for AGES. I've no idea why it does it but eventually the wizard pops up and you can continue normally.

Had this before. Basically it's decompressing the file that it just copied from the DVD. Give it a bit longer. :)
