I've got a 1.4TDCi Ford Fiesta which has done 137k and I've been looking to change cars over the past few weeks. One reason for changing the car is not just for a car with less mileage, but a car with more power.

The reason I've been looking to remap my fiesta is it may give me a reason to keep it for longer, thus not buying a new car.

According to various sites, I can gain 18bhp taking it to a total 88bhp and an additional 32lb torque, taking it to 192lb.

Thoughts? Would it be worth it?

If you're keeping the car anyway, it might be worth it for the sake of a couple of hundred quid.

Don't plan on doing it to make the car worth keeping though, as it will be back to complete boredom again within about 3 months. 70bhp vs 88bhp is not going to make a TDCi Fiesta into something significantly better than what it is now.

It's a fair point which I understand, thanks :)

On another note, my mate remapped his Fiat 500 sport. Stock its 134, now gets 184

The difference in the little fiat will be quite noticable as its already running reasonable power considering its weight - when you're just fighting to move the car along (fiesta) then yes, it'll be an improvement but not to an enjoyable end

You're making a slow car ever so slightly less slow :p

Those engines are terrible for getting properly gunked up on the inlets too, to the point where you can't fit your little finger in a whole you should be able to wiggle your thumb around in :p So it's probably losing power through that which a remap isn't going to overcome.

That had crossed my mind!

Possibly but it was an option which appears to not be worth following!

Some places offer a money back guarantee if you are not happy with the map so get it done by one of those places and if you do not like it then get it removed, your money back and upgrade the car.
