Hi,

Shortly going to b e ordering a Ultima Tyrannosaur from OCuk ... have been doing quit e bit of reading to get my purchase right and was looking to upgrade from 8gb to 16gb just to ensure I was over the top I had thought...

Have seen a comment from an OCuk employee on facebook stating to another customer that having 16bg will not help as this will mean the system can not be overclocked as much?

Can someone help me understand this and should I not bother getting 16gb in total and just stick with 8?

Best Regards

Mike

Generally speaking, more RAM sticks put more strain on the memory controller which in turn can affect how much you can overclock.

Tough one as I only have 8gb myself. I think some people have reported that memory intensive games such as BF3 run smoother with more than 4gb.

People tend to be stocking up on RAM right now whilst it's still cheapish, including going to 16gb.

personally i would just take 16gb ram

prob only 200 or 300 mhz worst off overclock. (a guess)

200 or 300 mhz is not much anyway

even in stock clock is a very fast computer already
