Re-overclocking with new bios

I just updated the mobo bios tonight and re-did the cpu overclock step by step again as if it were the first time. But this time it seems to have went higher, before the update about the best i could get stable was 2700Mhz dead on and the highest i could get windows to load at without crashing was around 2800Mhz. This time i could get windows to load all the way up to 2950Mhz before crashing whilst loading the desktop. After lowering it a few at a time until Prime95 didn't halt within a minute or so it seems to have settled at 2835Mhz (priming just now). Noww i'm wishing i'd updated the Bios sooner

One thing i'm concerned about though is that since the update the temps have changed quite a bit. It used to idle around 24/25C now it idles at 32-34C and the fan speed has reduced hugely. RPM used to always be 2000+, now it varies between around 700rpm whilst idle and its currently at 1300rpm under load with Prime. Is there any reason the CPU cooler would start behaving so differently after a bios update?

Prime stable for 15 hours

I had a look in the bios and the new one has an extra fan control option added. It lets you set a value for the fan to be turned off at, set to <20C and to set a value to put the fan on 100% rpm, thats set at 50C. The options for having the fan go to 100% only have 50c/55C/60C

Would have preferred to have it go faster as it's quite a jump 24C idle to 33C.

OK i've tried turning off AMD cool n quiet option in the bios, but the fan is still running dead slow. Can anyone think of anything i can do to sort it? I've tried configuring speedfan to have the cpu cooler at 100% no matter what, but it doesnt seem to make any difference, the rpm still shows at 700-850ish. I know my temps are fine idling at 32-34C but it's annoying the hell outta me that they were 24C before updating the bios.

Had to enable 'software controlled' on PWM 1 to get speedfan to be able to change the speeds. Still confused as to why it was running so low in the first place. Ah well maybe one of lifes little mysteries
