Looking to buy a surge protector. Are cheaper ones the same as the more expensive? Are there any recommendations? Will be using it for the PC.
Thanks to sensible answers in advance.

There are several Belkins on the market, bought mine years ago, in fact I have 3 of them, one for each pc and one for the TV/ DVD etc all come with a lifetime warranty for X amount (different ratings "insure" different amounts plugged in just keep the warranty booklet) never had a call to use them though so can't comment on how easy/complete it is to claim.

Thanks for the reply Azen, I was going to buy a cheap one but didn't, are there some better than others or that can protect from more intense surges ect. I'm not sure what you'd call it, but Hope you know what i mean.

Would advise against a cheap one, I paid about £50 for mine not needed it, but the day I do I don't want to find that the protector failed because of a few quid.

Know what you mean

I found the one I have on the wifes computer here on OC (not bought here sorry oc was before I knew you)

Note:

Lifetime £175,000 Connected Equipment warranty to insure protection for your connected equipment and give you peace of mind
Maximum Spike Amperage of 75,000 Amp

MY one for MY pc is uprated from that think I have more insurance and more ams (125,000 springs to mind but that may just be coffee issues.)

Essentially more you spend more protection you get, but I think something like this is fine for a home computer. Anything more is likely going to set fire to something anyway and you will have home insurance for that at that point. (and bigger concerns)
