Who runs these on there cars? If so what are your thoughts?

Just doing some research for a topic on another forum.

I run them on the ST, ive tried the Goodyear GDS3,Conti Sport contact 2 and the RE050.

Personal opinions are that they are not as good as the Conti, wear rate is better but the conti has the edge in terms of grip, the RE050 seem to light up the ESP much more than the conti, but the conti's seem crap once they get to about 8-9k wear (out of a total of 12k), where as the Bridgestones seem to be consistent all the way through, ive done 12k on them and theres about 1k left in them, and they are as good as they were new tbh.

Goodyears on the ST arent very good at all, poorer grip all round, and the ESP light is forever coming in and out.

The bridgestones do have one great thing about them, they seem to have a strong sidewall protection, where as the conti are too soft for my liking.

Woohoo, have you run the RE050A and RE050?

Or just one? Reason I ask is that there seems to be a lot of confusion as to what tyre to go for now the S-02 have been phased out by Bridgestone. RE050A have been the recommended replacement by Bridgestone but people seem to use RE050 and the Re050A with mixed views on both.

The RE050 are 'too hard compound' and 'dont inspire confidence'
The RE050A are 'too soft and feel squidgy'

I have RE050A's on my 350z. I think Nissan swapped from normal RE050's for the 07 model change - I'm sure I read to help with tramlining amongst other things (if so it hasn't worked).

My car has done 6500 miles of which I've done maybe 1500. Still have plenty of tread left. I guess I can't say too much about how they feel etc as I'm still in the 'wussie' territory coming from a 130bhp fwd to 309 rwd is a big jump. Didn't seem too bad in the wet - I think they take a bit of warming up though - I've trigged the ESP light a couple of times in a straight line on a cold day (not mega icey or anything) - that wasn't in 1st either ;)

I'm not sure what I will swap them to when the rears are worn - probably would keep the same all round.

There are different variations of the RE050 and I'm not talking about the A or no A. For example there's a revision specifically made for the new age Impreza's, so, those cars should not use the RE050A but the RE050 with a special GZ (I think) code.

It's all rather confusing so the best advice here is you call Bridgestone UK and get it from the horses mouth. :)

Oh yeah we know that the replacements are the RE050A for the 16" S02, the RE050 MZ were the OEM fitment for the 17"

Even the S02 needed to be the s2000 type rather than the porsche type.

This car just seems really sensative to tyres, also a lot of people run highly, driving style, optimised geometry. Again changing the feel of tyres

Picking the right RE050 is a minefield. Some are, as you say, less than impressive yet others are pretty good - ISTR the RE050A coming 2nd or 3rd in the Evo tyre test.

RE010s are awesome. I'm currently using michelin pilot exalto 2s on the teg which are very good. Better than the RE010s in the wet, maybe a little softer feeling in the dry. Better all round tyre I would say.

I know that doesn't help you 050 question, but its still usful input.
