I like the look of this one.

It's been in development for a few years, comes out pretty much this time next month.

And for me it looks really playable, and visually outstanding!

The ground-breaking cinematic action-adventure from nDreams Elevation – the VR immersion expert’s pioneering new studio.

Embody a reluctant hero, wield extraordinary abilities, and journey into a perilous world of crossed realities. Make every move matter to shape your destiny. Are you ready to make the leap?

Unrivalled immersion

Full-body awareness and true-to-life interactions deliver unmatched presence in every moment.

Well.........

So this came out which I was looking forward to.

But it seems it wasn't tested on a whole bunch of hardware.

There's probably a decent game in there but the Steam reviews will put off lots of buyers (rightfully so) like me for instance.

What a shame.

Wow, taking a read within the Steam forum for that game makes me wonder why it has been released, due to it being so broken for so many.

A shame, for so many reason, including for the devs, you get one chance at first impressions. That price as well.......

Yeh it's so stupid really.

People that are browsing will see "Mostly Negative" and just scroll on past.

I do think there's a really good game in there when working. So assuming projected sales will be dashed because of the reviews, will it even get patched...

Indeed. Circumstances and sales could also influence whether the devs are able to resolve those issues, skills and funds permitting.
When you noted in your first post about it being in development for a few years, and now released as a finished product, it does make you wonder what has happened for it to be so dysfunctional.

It could have been so much better.

It's like releasing on Xbox and not supporting the Xbox controller, or 1080p resolution.
Massive fail there in terms of their QA strategy.

They should have delayed the PC release until it was ready. As the apocryphal Miyamoto quote goes 'A delayed game is eventually good, a rushed game is bad forever.'

And also "You never have a second chance to make a first impression."

I would almost certainly have bought the game last night if it weren't for the launch issues. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

I do try and support VR titles, to a point of being interested in what the content is of course. Perhaps more so as PCVR than Meta, so many reasons.
But this one, especially as it is, I do feel could not be supported.

I do think, launched is launched, that they need to release a statement of what the status is with the game, in terms of how it was released and what they are able to do about it.
They do seem to be the devs and publishers..? I am not sure what they could be able to do to try and limit the damage worsening, offering refunds etc....

As mentioned, so sad.

Yes it's very disappointing, especially as it looks like the game itself should be pretty good once the bugs have been fixed

I actively rebuy games on Steam that I have on Quest, to support the Devs and provide some redundancy in case I have to ditch Meta headsets. I can't buy a game like this if it's so bugged.

I really hope Thief VR doesn't launch badly...

Gave this a quick go/ test today. Not sure if can be bothered persevering, the controls feel very clunky. Encountered several 'bugs' and annoyances too but managed to sort a few. Namely...

1. No sound effects for some stuff like firing weapon etc - FIX - for some reason the 'SFX' setting is at 0 by default in the in-game sound menu, so an easy fix.

2. Twisty wrists. Awful default setup of hands/ arms that make you look like you're 'wrong' or having a seizure. Found a fix that involves editing the controls offset settings in SteamVR.

3. No haptic feedback/ rumble on controllers. Tried on Cystal Light and PSVR2. No fix found.

4. Found an issue where I'm being forced to play as yet another young, tiny yet strong and powerful diverse woman of colour in yet another ******* game. No fix on the immediate horizon for that unfortunately

I wish VR games would give us a choice of characters, especially as modern game Devs seem to go on about 'representation' all the time.

Still if the character is well written and played well it can work, and there can be a roleplaying aspect but the character has to a decent one you can relate to.

I found the player character in Alien Rogue Incursion to be very unlikable, which spoiled the playthrough somewhat.

Totally agree

Thought I'd have a quick look at this again.

And yep, it's being patched on Steam and reviews are starting to be mostly good.

I won't grab it quite yet though...

They missed their opportunity with me unfortunately. I will pick it up at some point, if it's properly fixed.
