Acuvue Oasys - just wanted to post a mini-review of these incredible pieces of kit.

My history is that I have had trouble with contact lenses since the age of about 18 (I'm 26 now). I just couldn't tolerate them for any length of time before my eyes started reacting badly to them.

As a result I had recently been considering surgery as I was fed up with my glasses. I lean my head, they slide around. I jump, they move. I use goggles, they steam up. I lie down in bed, they hit the pillow. Etc...ad infinitum. As a last resort, thinking that no lens would ever suit me due to my sensitive eyes, I went back to Specsavers and asked if there was anything new on the market that was worth a try.

I get the usual spiel about "there are some great new lenses out that people like you have been trialling with great results". I'd heard it all before but decided to give it another go.

I'm talking about Acuvue's "Oasys", and they allow me to wear contact lenses from 6.30am to 10pm and all day in front of a computer screen at work in an air-conditioned environment, at which point I remove and wash them before bed and my eyes still feel as though I've been wearing glasses all day. My trial started four months ago and since then I've worn them 14+ hours per day (usually rest one day for ocular health, not because they're tired) most days.

I don't know what Acuvue did but these are so utterly different and incredibly better than anything I've tried before. If you're having trouble with contact lenses; dry eyes, soreness, short wearing periods - trust me, try these out. They're a revelation.

I've been wearing " Surevue " by Johnson & Johnson for years now, maybe worth a try.

(Soft/monthly disposables.)

If they are sliding across your eyeball when it moves , then i would suggest a visit to the optician as it sounds like they are too big.

me to, can wear for hours. i know my optician wont read this

:D

Optician: "So, how long do you wear your lenses each week?"
Me: "Well normally from about 8:30 till 6:00 for 6 days a week, then I give them a rest on Sundays"
Optician: "Excellent. Well your eyes seem to be in order, keep it up!"

Muhahaha, my contacts are in every day from about 7:30am till 9:30pm on weekdays, 10am-11pm on weekends :D. I seem to be lucky though as my brother/mum always had dry eyes from wearing contact lenses, I've never had any problems.

Currently wearing Focus Dailies from Costco.

Edit: removal of density :o :p

I think it's ok to wear contacts for as long as they feel comfortable. I wear my gas permiable lenses from around 8am to 12/1am almost every day and I only take them out because i'm not allowed to sleep in them. I haven't had a day where i've not worn them for about 8 months now. I tell my optician exactly how long I wear them and she says it's fine as long as I take them out when my eyes get sore or tired.

I'd love to be able to get soft lenses in my prescription just to see what they feel like. Mine can be somewhat uncomfortable at times and I occasionally use Blinks wetting drops. They also seem to attract all the dirt the air has to offer which can cause considerable pain! I wouldn't go back to wearing my glasses though so I just put up with them.
