Read only files - VPN connection

Hi all,

Recently set up a VPN connection to access the shared drive at work from my Macbook at home.

Whenever I go to open my Microsoft Excel files, it shows them as 'Read only'

I know they are not open elsewhere, as I am the only one to use these files.

Can anyone help me to get this sorted?

Two things,

Are you using backslashes in the file name? change them to -

and are you saving as xlsx or xls, AFAIK xlsx doesn't work on mac. (xls is 2007 excel, xlsx is 2011)

That should work if both of those are sorted
