I have been asked by a friend, to try to grab a whole load of files from a whole load of floppy disks.

The problems are simply that the filenames are not compatible with Windows.

The disks can be read however, and I am able to grab some files off the disks, but not others...

For example, the file

MUSIC.TXT

Can be read nice and simply

But the File

MUSIC.A.TXT cannot

Its not quite DOS compatible it seems.

Anyway, these disks are all done on a Canon StarWriter 95... Bit old I know.

I have found 2 ways to do it.

1 - The full way is to use My Atari TT. The snag ius, that my FLoppy drive is not quite there so disks over about say 1.1MB will not read fully ( BUM )

2 - Using the Command lijne in Windows, and simply COPY A:\*.* will drag all the files it can off the floppy onto the HD and then I am simply moving them into the relevant Folders.
This has the advantage of being very quick, but misses out on over half the files.

I need some kind of disk copying effort that will grab all the files with their filenames intact, and let me back them up onto the HD of the PC.

My next port of call is to try out the goold olg XTREE GOLD, but I dont have a DOS PC, so I am just going to knock up a DOS PC just to have a play with that thought.

Anyone got any suggestions?
