One of the all time failures is that I don't read many books and I want that to change! Most of my friends plough their way through books. I think I need to learn how to switch off and put myself into that little bubble whilst reading.

How often do you read books?

this is something i've never been able to do either, just can't get into the book. read 3 books off my own accord in my entire life.

Twice a year, maybe 3.

I plough through ~4 books then I won't read anything for 4-6months. It's annoying and I have no idea why.
I have at least 10 good books sat here, but I'm in my no reading stage.

I'm odd.

I do that as well. I think one of the factors is finding good books: I'm quite picky with mine and when I've read everything by one author it takes me ages to stumble across another one I like.

Christmas is usually when I take up reading again, usually reading books I'm given as presents. Reading 2001: A Space Odyssey at the moment, and I've the second one waiting for when I'm finished. It's actually a lot better than the film.

Everyday, read for at least half an hour before I turn the light out on a night and any other chance I get.
I find since I got the iPad, having Kindle on there makes it more convenient to read.

My iLibrary is huge, and all of them read. (Apart from the ones I have just bought in the 12 days of kindle sale!)

Theres just something about letting the mind produce a picture rather than a screen.

I've Always got a book on the go but I don't often do fiction & mainly read Biographys & True Life stuff, S'pose a book lasts me between 2 & 4 weeks depending on size/how good it is, The best books get read in less than a week.

Read pretty much everyday since I got my kindle, previously I still read a lot just not as often. You just need to find books that interest you, then it becomes very very easy to spend many hours reading :)

I read on the train to uni every day, so an hour a day 4 days a week to make sure I read a good book.

There's also the 4 or so hours a day of uni reading to go with it which I have had a rest from over christmas.

Reading is pretty fun :)

I read regularly, I have a rather tasty collection if you fancy borrowing any?

Even have a early (when I say early, one of the first) edition of Robert Burns collection.

However this will be pickup only as it's in a containment bag and you need to wear gloves to read it so would have to walk you through basic book care :)

I've been reading about 2-3 books a year for the last few years, mainly on holiday, since I stopped commuting by train however the misses just got me a kindle so I'm trying to read more again.

The big things i find are:
1) Find a good book / series you can get into - totally depends on what sort of thing your into but all genres, that way you'll look forward to reading whats coming next :)

2) Make a space to read in your day, I think a lot of people read in bed before they go to bed, if your OCUKing instead you'll have to make a bit of a trade off, paper (/eInk) is supposed to be much better for your sleep than backlit refreshing displays!

3) Stick with it (or ditch it) some books will take some getting into before they take hold, get to know your attention span and if your not gelling with the book ditch and switch (warning, the web may have reduced your attention span to that of a ADD kid on an espresso binge)

4) Eliminate other distractions - music is fine but something like TV will try and drag you away from your good read so turn it off

have fun :)

Oh and if paper is too hard for you try http://www.dailylit.com/ they'll send you a daily shot of bookiness via e-mail / rss so you can sneak some reading past your online obsession ;)

I'm exactly the same... I'll read a 6 book series or something then take a few months off. When I'm into reading though it's an awesome escape, I absolutely love it and actually feel a bit sorry for people who don't read books at all...

Currently reading Ursula Le Guin's "The Lathe of Heaven" as a light starter into my next block of reading. I got the new ASoIAF book but it took so long to come out that I now have to re-read all the ones before it, which is going to take up lots of time. :(

I try and read everyday usually before I go to sleep and I find time to read the paper as well. My Kindle has helped me become a regular reader again.

I got my wife a kindle last Christmas and she's probably read 80+ books in the past 12 months.
She got me one this year (she has no imagination :) ) and I read it every night in bed before I go to sleep.
I was in Afghanistan last year and I reckon I read about 20 books in my 7 months out there. Compared to my normal 3 or 4 a year. I reckon I'll get through quite a few now I've got the kindle though.

If its a very good book, I can finish it in a day. I go to the Library every week and take out 3-4 books. I read in preference to the TV but can listen to quiet music at the same time. Usually 2 hours or so in the evening.

Used to read quite a lot when I was younger, 12/13 yo. But now, I couldn't tell you the last book Ive read. Probably haven't read a full book in 7 years.

I'm such a slow reader anyway. I can find myself reading a paragraph and then suddenly realising that I didn't actually understand any of it and that I had just lost concentration. I would have to go back and re read.

Start with short books, or short stories that look interesting to you. Don't go for War and Peace from the outset ;)

Failing that, put a book in the loo.
