I currently have a radeon xl1350 / 1550 but now want to upgrade.

Although not very 'computer literate' i will be buying and installing myself, but will need help in choosing a good product.

my computer runs 2g ram 32bit amd 5000+ dual core although not sure how many pins or if its pci (what do i do to find out) it is about 2 years old if that helps.

Im not sure how much i will be paying as i have no experience but would somebody please advise me on a card priced around £50 and one around £100 and what differences will i notice.

I may also want to run two monitors in the future and i believe to do this has some connection with a graphics card if someone would be kind enough to explain.

I will want to play games such as assassins creed and maybe other games that come out in the next year or two.

For any and all who help with my queries i thank in advance.

You'll need to check whether your current spec will support these cards but I think you'll be ok : 8000 series nvidia, and the lower end 4000 ati cards, though I think you'll need to spend a little more than a 100 smackers. Try second hand perhaps. If you post your mobo model / name number etc then maybe we can help you.
A warm welcome to the forums :D

After browsing the site with your suggestions in mind i am thinking of buying:

Asus ATI Radeon HD 4850 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual

Is this a good purchase (£125) or should i be looking at others?

Yep thats a good card, about the best you're going to get for that sort of money, and will be an absolutely massive improvement on your current card.

My mobo details are as follows:

Manufacturer: Dell
Model: 0CT103 A03
Chipset nvidia geforce 6150 A2
Southbridge: nvidia nforce 410/430 mcp

Will i be able to use the Asus ATI Radeon HD 4850 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual GC without problems or would there be another better suited?

Hopefully my last query before purchasing but i like to be careful, so thanks again.

Yep, 4850 - cracking card for the money, and plays the meaty games with comparitive ease. Your setup should be fine. Happy spending :D

You'll need to make sure your power supply has a 6-pin PCI-E power connector if you go for the 4850 or the 8800GS.
