Hi all it’s been while since my last post Xmas is comeing and I want to treat my self to new tower I feel a little out the loop buying parts but love gaming every night playing this is my build at the moment
Intel i5 8600k
H100i
Gtx 1070ti
Z370 Extreme 4
16gb ram
1tb ssd think this all
I have budget £2000 but cos I have £2000 don’t mean I have to spend it all I am a Yorkshire man and love a bargain lol

So that's your existing system. What kind of games do you play, or are hoping to play? Do you have preference to Intel or AMD? If wanting to get stuff right now I'd be tempted to go Intel route, with either a 12600k or 12700k...as you're just gaming I'd go for 12600k
Nvidia cards better for ray tracing and have dlss, but unless you can get a fe card (subscribe to fepartalert through telegram on your phone and try and get one in a drop) you'll be paying through the nose. Nvidia have scaled back recently and rumour is they releasing super variants of there cards end of the year or beginning of next
At the mo cost wise the 6700xt makes more sense..pay £1050 odd and you could go up to a 6800xt which is comparable to a 3080(which are north of £1200 at the mo)
The below will be solid 1440p gaming. I assume you can reuse your case/cooler and ssd. I put the OEM CPU in as doesnt have retail packaging but £20 cheaper and is the same otherwise. Going to 8 p cores 12700k is £399
For AMD, current 5000 series CPU not really dropped in price yet,but they might as not as competitive against alderlake. Q1 next year AMD releasing 3d v cache chips which is meant to bring a 15% boost to gaming performance and that will be the last of am4 cpu's with 6000 series CPU being launched on am5
What type of ssd do you have. You could add a nvme drive. A sn550 1tb is £69 at the mo going up to £140 odd for a gen4 pcie sn850. You could then use your ssd as a wnd drive

I went ryzen route, have a 5800X with B550 Strix e gaming board, 32gb corsair vengeance rgb3600C18, 2tb sn850 and a 3080fe, which I started buying in jun and built in sep I think. If I did it now, the 12th gen intel are better cpu's for the price and I think I'd be going that route if buying right now, but if your happy to wait, the 3d v cache ryzen cpu's out beginning of next year which should then compete again. then it'd be a case of which is cheaper for the same performance. There's always something just around the corner but very happy with my pc

If you are happy being patient then def get onto telegram on your phone and subscribe to FEPartAlert. When Nvidia release their founder edition cards through their distributor, they're put up here with a link. 3060ti £369, 3070 £469, 3070ti £529, 3080 £649, 3080ti £1049 and 3090 £1399. For 4k gaming you want a 3080 or above. Nvidia have slowed production from news...this maybe to divert production to the new cards coming out, or just to stoke demand, who knows...when a drop happens the lower cards go in a matter of mins, 3080ti and 3090 being pricey, you have an hour or so before they sell out...3080 best bang for buck but only seen 1 drop in last few months and they went instantly

What monitor are you playing on?

a nvidia drop just happenned in europe. Expect uk in next few days if pattern of last few months are to go by. They had 3070ti's and 3080ti's so far....and 3070 as i type(and in my basket though can't actually have it)..so picking up an fe card can be done

The i7 12700K will perform a bit better even at 3440 x 1440.

The SN550 is no longer a good budget option since WD messed about with it and made it slower. An extra £20 would get you the Team MP34 1TB.

That psu isn't that good for the price. Also 650W is a bit on the low side for this sort of budget. The MSI 750W is only £10 more and is a much better unit.

Strange choice of cooler. A Scythe Fuma 2 is cheaper and dual tower. It will give better temps.

650watt is enough, system draw under load should be around 400 watts ish.

The Zalaman CNPS17X is as good as the Fuma2 but either will do fine.

Not sure what is going on with the NVME market. Everyone seems to be fudging.

A 650W leaves little room for future upgrades. For the sake of £10 the MSI makes more sense. Much better unit and twice the warranty.

The Fuma 2 is definitely the better cooler. The only way the Zalman is better is at stock fan settings, as the Fuma 2 fans run pretty slow. If you set them to the same speed (1000rpm), or full speed the Fuma 2 is better as seen in the video below.

A few other companies have been caught doing the same thing. I know Samsung are guilty as well with the 970 EVO and there are probably others.

The power supply would be 60% load worse case. Ie not gaming. 650watt is plenty.

The 17X, Fuma, D15, Freezer 34. All would be fine.

For a similar price I would do this:

An 850W psu and 32GB Ram. The B550 Tomahawk is great value and will handle any Ryzen cpu.

The other alternative is to look at Alderlake.

Do you feel like your current system is struggling ? The i5 8600K is still a pretty decent cpu 6c/6t. Maybe just try a gpu upgrade first and see how it is. You can always buy a full system after if it is still below par.

Maybe although I’m not a fan of MSI motherboards. Found them to be pretty flakey.

I'd buy the best Graphics card you can justify, then swsp out the 8600K for and 8700K if you can get one cheap enough, then leave the rest for another 12-18 months.

I'd buy the best Graphics card you can justify this sounds good but easy said than done the 8600k I had for couple of years and looking at my pc the other day and was thinking y not treat my self the way the worlds been last year and this is one of the things not let me down and I tho y not I love to play games and just started streaming playing games so the money would be going into something that I want and will use every day I know it’s not 100% must right now but I see it as been as investment but if I am spending the 2k I want to make it future proof or am better off waiting

Well buying the most powerful GPU to run your games at 3440x1440p 120+Hz is your target. Swapping the CPU with a brand new £400 Intel or AMD and an expensive board isn't really going to add much performance, hence the 8700K is a quick easy upgrade.

Look for your bottle neck at the resolution and settings you play at and buy accordingly
