Hello, looking to overclock my E5300. I just replaced my stock CPU cooler with the Tranquillo. What speed should I go for?

Temps right now when Idle:

Core 1: 39

Core 2: 31

There's lots of guides about for overclocking. In short, up the FSB up a bit at a time and increase voltage when it becomes unstable.

You should be able to hit 3.4GHz+ really, just run prime95 or Intel burn test after each overclock, keep an eye on the temperatures :)

Go for 3ghz Above that will make minor improvments, each cpu will be diffrent so you may get diffrent results to others.

Its trail and error.

This any good? :)

10-20 mins in to it.

P.S: Using "blend" mode

You don't need to worry about load temperatures till they get into the high 70's. Loads of headroom left :)

(By the way, it's always load temperature that's important. The temperature at idle is pretty irrelevant)

i find running Intel Burn test will find an unstable overclock faster than Prime95.
Prime is good but it takes longer, often 6hrs+, where IBT will often find it in 20 mins.
i just usually run IBT for 20 runs, if its stable, overclock again, then repeat IBT test.
Then at final speed, do an overnight run of Prime, but thats just my opinion

also take vcore off auto, as it is usually higher than you need

Had my E5200 @ 3.3 for 2 years for gaming, and never crashed once (Witcher 2 being the most taxing of these games). However if I ran Intel Burn test it crashed after 10 mins or so. Prime95 was good for 1 hour then I closed it so never tested that and further.

"Stable" is very subjective.
