Real differences between Vista Basic and Premium?

I'm considering upgrading to vista, as mx xp install is having some issues, and if I'm going to reinstall, I might aswell get vista.

Due to funds being severely tight at the moment, I am wondering what the real difference between basic and premium is?

I use the computer for gaming, music and other general use.

You don't get Aero for starters, I really wouldn't bother with basic.

media centre is the other. If you have dvd's saved to your hdd or watch tv on your computer media centre is well worth it.

I used a different source when I was comparing, but no longer have it. Think it mentioned max number of support cores between the version.

Don't see a lot of point in buying Vista Basic TBH - it's effectively a more secure version of XP Home.
