I took delivery of my first gaming PC yesterday and also the first which I was attempting to build myself.
Well, after 2 hours it was up and running but oddly the 1 bit I couldn't fathom was surely the easiest bit and that is fitting the I/O Shield.

I know it's meant to just clip in but it's like it's a different size as it falls through the gap once i push it in.

So, are there different sizes or are they all a standard size?
And am I just being an idiot? I managed the rest of the build without any issues so i'm a bit annoyed that i can't get this damn thing in.

Luckily there is enough gap to try to fit it with everything else in place hence why I just finished the build initially.

The IO shield plate fits from the inside of the case to the outside, if you have already fitted the motherboard then you cant possibly fit it in.

There is a ridge around the outside of the IO plate that the metal of the case "pops" in to.

You just push it into the hole hard enough so it snaps into position.

You'll have to take the motherboard out to fit it. I'm around 98% sure that your IO shield isn't the 'wrong' size.

As stulid said, there should be no chance of fitting it with motherboard in place.

As far i know they are all the same size, including MATX and MITX. (may be wrong about this though ;))

What is the case and mother board?

Any chance of pics?

I forgot to do this when i fitted the mobo. So now i just set it on the outside and all the cables keep it in place... Seems to do the job!

Well this is the thing, I suspected it wouldn't fit with the motherboard in either but the thing is, the I/O shield can actually fit in from the rear. Which suggests to me that it's never going to clip in place in a million years.
How confusing!

Obviously I tried to fit it at the very beginning of the setup but couldn't clip it in anyway at all then so just left it. I can still push it through easily, then my hand can reach in from the inside next to motherboard as there is a gap. I can push it all ways I want but it doens't clip anywhere. Looking at it, I can see where it's supposed to clip as it has the springy metal ridge around it but if I line one side up, the other side is not lined up, it's like it's a few mm too small.

As mentioned by Mak3R though, i've simply pushed it against the motherboard, so the output sockets go through the holes on the I/O shield and then the USB leads etc keep it fixed. That will have to do!

Tower is the Zalman Z9 Plus, Motherboard is the MIS H67MA-E35 H67.

It'll be fine how it is anyway, not worth taking it all apart again. It can't come loose where it is now.
