How can a 17 inch be of such great resolution?

Its for a laptop and what resolution should i go for

I'm really noob in the laptop world :(

I dont know how exactly, but it just is!

In my eyes though if you're going to be using a laptop for gaming I would go for such a high res or the gfx card wont be able to handle current games long if at all.

It's for Media work mate the the graphics is:

NVIDIA® Quadro® FX 2500M with 512MB dedicated graphics memory [Included in Price]

1440x900 is still going to look nice

but i would imagine 1900x1200 would look insane, 1440x900 if youre going to be gaming though

Primarly Video work mate, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere, Sony Vegas etc :)

The screen res is totally dependant on the MB of the gfx card i.e. 128mb 256mb 512mb etc etc.. Larger the mb, larger the res.

Am i right?

My old 19" run at a huge reso on a 256mb card.

512mb Nvidia Quadro, designed for high end applications i believe
