Just need a real quick price evaluation on this site. It was a group project for uni last year and the customer has just decided they want to buy it.

Im not looking for a tonne of cash, its static consisting of about 20 pages but will all be standards compliant etc.

The site can be found here.

http://www.rcsmith.co.uk/bbb/homepage.html

The design concept etc is all my own, their rights are to their logo.

My breakdown of time spent roughly and honestly very modestly, infact probably totally underestimated [i say underestimated as i built this site a while ago and cant remember at all + it was joint with a uni project]. I easily spent much longer designing the website but im really not looking for anywhere near £400, or even £200.. I think the guy would stretch to £150.

Requirement Elicitation -- 2 Hrs
Design / Construction + Updates -- 6 + 3 [estimate] Hrs
Testing -- 2 Hrs
Implementation -- 1 [estimate] Hrs
Maintenance -- N/A

The website would remain static but should run indefinitely and i cannot provide regular maintenance but might bolt on updates to their menu etc. They already have hosting and a domain name so i would not be offering that either. I would be offering the rights to my images ive created but not the code/design of the website, i would retain copyright of that. Ultimately he would be buying a license to use the site for advertising, and over their current site it is GREATLY improved. Their current site is an image and thats it.

Mate, can I ask how you got it to display a 'dot' next to the link that is active?

Cant figure out how to do it.

Cheers,

Edward
Simple as mate, the code for the dot is "•" but without the quotes. Just put that in or next to your link on the page your on.
dammit, just realised it came out as a proper dot.. google it.. theres a set of characters to draw it

Yeh, but how did you get it so that it only displayed on the active link? Ive had a look at your HTML code and your css stylesheet and I cant see the bit that makes this work (if that makes sense).
Its just in the HTML mate.. so on the Homepage, view the source, youll notice for the homepage link where the dot is displayed there is a strange string of characters before where it says Homepage. :)

Thanks chaps. Ive seriously undercut myself selling at about half what your saying and the industry. But i am only licensing them the use of the site and not the copyright to the code etc, so im ultimately only charging them work rate. Ive also said that any updates will warrant a £10 fixed charge + hours of work for update.

What if they want you to complete redo something, that would only take you say 4 hrs - but complete rework their original site.... £10 doesn't seem like enough....
£10 is the fixed price from the start, then i add on the hourly rate. So im still covering my time.

Cheers for the advice though guys, quite interesting lessons learnt. Will post back with the results of the transaction.
