I'm bored. I want to build something. I have a 7700k @ 5ghz / Asus Strix 270-e / 32Gb / RTX 2080Ti

Should i wait for the (potentially underwhelming) 10900k release (i'm not sure an 9900k is a worthwhile upgrade considering the mobo expense). Is there an AMD option that is significantly faster?

I play games at 4k and could do with a little FPS bump to get everything up to 120fps (not much drops below on competetive settings).

I, like many others, dumped AMD many years ago over reliability issues and the Intel chips eating theirs for breakfast at every point. Have the tables really turned?

In a maxed out single player game 120fps is pie in the sky, but with dumbed down settings for competetive play* on Valorant, CS:GO, Fortnite it will hit that without breaking a sweat.

no point right now. youd have buyers remorse in about 6 months time. when the new AMD cpus are out. the only reason to buy eol products is if they cheap and you need to. your cpu stock is good enough overclocked in games it will match anything amd has out now and probably quickler in most. wait till near christmas. then go with the new cpus.

Thanks dude. Having done some research and comparisons it seems that unless i wan't to start streaming urgently then i'm pretty well set for now.

At 4k with the games you're playing and the clock speed you have there's little point.
Deal with that boredom for another year or buy a new case or new cooler. ;)

*ahem*

arghh. actually the cables behind the motherboard are an absolute mess, with the Commander Pro and 2 lighting nodes and the PSU having such long tentacles it's a wonder any air actually gets to the radiator! I probably need to spend a week behind there with cable ties and a massive box of patience!
