I would like a 24" 120hz Monitor with "IPS like" clarity, no visible ghosting for under £300 ( the less the better).

Am I being realistic?

hmmm back to the drawing board.
Though I do like the look of the
LG W2363D 23" TRUE 120Hz 3D Widescreen LCD Monitor - Black,
Asus VG236HE 23" TRUE 120Hz 3D Widescreen LCD Monitor - Black
Benq XL2410T 24" TRUE 120Hz 3D Widescreen LED Monitor - Black
Dell Ultrasharp U2311H 23" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Midnight Grey [U2311H] even though its 60hz.

The only renaming question is do i go for 60hz ips or 120hz? I don't play online on my desktop (thats what the xbox and TV is for), but I like the idea of a crisp smooth desktop and those crystal sharp skies in FSX.

Oh why is it so complicated !

Go with the ips screen.
I like both 120hz and ips as much as each other.
However if my gaming preferences were yours i would prefer the ips over the 120hz.
If you are thinking 120hz screen, have you thought about 3d? I cant recommend that enough!!!!!

Phil.

IPS doesn't look 'crisper' than the modern TN panels.
It's advantages lie purely in colour accuracy and viewing angles.

If you want a 'crisp, smooth' desktop then don't get the u2311h.

I've owned lots of monitors and the anti glare on the u2311h makes it the worst one I've owned.
Lots of people review monitors give far too subjective reviews - what makes one persons "amazing" monitor makes another persons "average" monitor. I think the u2311h is overhyped for the typical user. Unless you need colour accuracy then it's not such a good consumer monitor.

My advice: the asus.

Thanks for your help so far.
I take your point with the Dell, I think its off the list now.
I am leaning towards 120hz, I think it is going to be the standard soon and love the idea of a smoother desktop and better gaming experiences. I plan to update my graphics card but was looking at an ATI 6950, so I guess 3D is not an option right now.
I read on a particular supermarket's site that the ASUS suffers noticeable ghosting when playing DVDs. This isn't even pushing things to limits. I don't really expect exact colour matching at low end prices, but I would expect a watchable screen. (cable quality could also be a factor).

Possible top choice contender is Benq XL2410T
