I keep going around in circles with what car I should go for, day to day my mind keeps changing...not a bad thing as I know when I decide it will be the right car!

Life at the minute seems to be changing on a monthly basis...moving into a new house, change in commute and now we are looking at getting a dog!

I think an estate car would come in quite handy on a day to day basis, so I think an estate car is what I am after.

My budget is £8k ish

Desirables:

4x4 drive
30+ mpg
Automatic
Look decent - I like sport trims
Under 50k mileage

Must:

Not cost the earth to run - this is quite a tough one to put into context however I do not want a car that is going to cost £k's a year to run - we have a house to run & holidays are now taking a priority over cars.

Not be RWD...as mad as it sounds for the few days a year we have snow, the roads I now travel on are impossible to get to work in a RWD car & cannot afford to not make it into work - working from home is not an option.

Not be a Kia

Thanks!

Octavia 2.0FSI 4x4 Estate?
Should tick all your boxes assuming you like the way it looks.
I'm not sure how hard it will be to find an automatic one though.

4x4 adds some expense but not to the point it becomes as significant as you're suggesting.

I wouldnt totally discount RWD, an RWD car with decent winter tyres > a 4x4 without easily.

what he said.

my fwd golf, with decent tyres, i didnt fail to make it anywhere in the last week. i have roughly 3 inches of ground clearance, this thing was clearing 6 to 8 inches of snow and ice just fine.

only cost to me was a decent set of tyres.
